Filippo de Pisis
The Nudo disteso, realized on delicate tissue paper, represents a typical example of a de Pisis’ production before the 1940’s and is directed towards the very personal research of the Ferrarian painter who engaged in rethinking the French masters. Its’ very vital and certain sense of violent realization is accomplished in rapid touches where the male figure, though roughly represented, is complete in his consistency. We are in the immediate vicinity of the summer 1940 in Rimini, where De Pisis handed over one of his most important works, the Ritratto di Allegro. This elevates the collection Malabotta at the Modern and Contemporary Art Museum in Ferrara (Museo d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea). (Naked males like this piece on tissue paper are closer to a Fragonard than to a Delacroix.) .
